SUMMARY:Cyclovia (April 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Car-Free Streets\, All-Ages Riding\n\n\n\nCyclovia means miles of Tucson streets closed to cars. Open to bikes\, skates\, pedestrians\, whatever gets you moving. Free activities\, local vendors\, neighborhoods actually accessible without dodging traffic. \n\n\n\nApril 12th\, 2026. Runs through downtown and Amphi neighborhoods. Show up anytime\, ride as much or as little as you want. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat It Is\n\n\n\nCyclovia shuts down city streets so people can use them. No cars. No stress. Just riding\, walking\, skating through Tucson without competing for pavement. \n\n\n\nIt’s not a race. It’s not organized rides. It’s just… streets\, available. Families on cruisers. Kids learning to ride. Commuters testing routes. Random people on skateboards. Everyone coexisting on car-free asphalt for a few hours. \n\n\n\nIf you’ve ever wanted to ride through downtown Tucson without brake-checking at every intersection\, this is that. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy Mountain Bikers Might Care\n\n\n\nMost Cyclovia participants aren’t all MTB people—this is a community street festival\, not a trail event. But it’s useful if you want to: \n\n\n\n\nTest urban bike commuting routes without traffic\n\n\n\nGet your kids comfortable on bikes (car-free streets = low-stress learning)\n\n\n\nSupport Tucson bike infrastructure advocacy (Living Streets Alliance pushes for better bike lanes\, multi-use paths\, and trail connections year-round)\n\n\n\nRide yo bike and chill!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLogistics\n\n\n\nWhen: April 12\, 2026 (exact hours TBA\, usually 10am-2pm) \n\n\n\nWhere: Downtown to Amphi neighborhoods (3+ mile route\, car-free) \n\n\n\nCost: Free \n\n\n\nBring: Any bike. Cruiser\, road bike\, MTB\, whatever. Helmet recommended. Water. \n\n\n\nParking: Park nearby and ride in\, or bike from home (that’s the point). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore Info\n\n\n\nOfficial site: Cyclovia Tucson \n\n\n\nOrganizer: Living Streets Alliance (nonprofit pushing for better bike/pedestrian infrastructure in Tucson) \n\n\n\nVolunteer\, vendor\, sponsor: Links at Cyclovia site

SUMMARY:Whiskey Off Road (2026)
DESCRIPTION:Whiskey Off Road is Arizona’s biggest spring MTB event. Three days of racing in Prescott’s high country\, two hours north of Phoenix. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Races\n\n\n\n50-Mile | 30-Mile | 15-Mile (Saturday\, April 26)Start downtown on Whiskey Row. Climb into Prescott National Forest. Rocky singletrack\, doubletrack\, gravel roads through ponderosa pine at 5\,400-7\,000 feet. Finish on the courthouse lawn with a commemorative pint glass. \n\n\n\nGravel Growler (Friday\, April 25)High country gravel warmup or standalone event if you skip the singletrack suffering. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Reality\n\n\n\nPrescott sits at 5\,400 feet. The course climbs to 7\,000+. If you’re coming from sea level\, elevation will hurt more than the rocks. And there are lots of rocks. \n\n\n\nSpring weather swings 40°F mornings to 75°F+ afternoons. Sometimes wind. Sometimes rain. Pack layers. \n\n\n\n94% finish rate sounds forgiving. It’s not easy—just well-supported with good course marking and stocked aid stations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy Go\n\n\n\nWell-run event. Beautiful ponderosa pine singletrack. Good MTB industry scene. Prescott’s worth visiting—historic downtown\, walkable\, good food\, Whiskey Row lives up to the name. \n\n\n\nIf you liked 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo vibe but want actual racing\, this is that. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLogistics\n\n\n\nWhen: Arrive Thursday for packet pickup. Race Saturday (or Friday gravel). \n\n\n\nBike: 120-130mm trail bike. Tubeless mandatory. Low gearing helps (sustained climbing at altitude). \n\n\n\nBring: Tire plugs\, 3-4L water\, layers\, sunscreen. \n\n\n\nStay: Downtown Prescott (walking distance) or surrounding area (drive in). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nOver 80% full. The 50-mile sells out. Register soon. \n\n\n\nRegister for Whiskey Off-Road (Organizer\, Epic Rides) → \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRelated: Best of Tucson Mountain Biking
