Ride. Anywhere.
MTB Diaries creates and curates key DIY mountain bike information, guides, and courses for riders who enjoy mountain biking on their own terms.
We enjoy bringing together insider knowledge, practical tools, and preparation strategies to help fellow riders responsibly discover and explore the world’s best trails—independently, affordably, successfully.
The Challenge We’re Conquering
Mountain bike travel shouldn’t always require hiring a guide. But piecing together information from dozens of sources (replete with varying opinions and inconsistent details) sometimes isn’t enough, either.
We want to show up prepared, ride confidently, and explore independently.
There’s huge gap between winging it and booking a tour—and that’s where MTB Diaries lives.
We’re not a trail database. We’re not a gear review site. We’re not a tour company. We’re not a forum, and we’re not AI-rehash.
We’re experienced friends who ride these trails, know the logistics, and share real stories in a consistent way—to help you plan great trips on your own terms.
Because there’s nothing like a quality bicycle ride.

Why MTB Diaries Exists
I’ve been chasing singletrack since I was five years old, starting with the trails of Tucson, Arizona. That early introduction turned into high school and college MTB racing, then into a habit of searching out trails in dozens of countries around the world during a career in archaeology.
Here’s what I learned while traveling: you can’t always bring a bike, but you can almost always find one. And you should.
Some of my best riding memories aren’t from races or home trails—they’re from borrowed bikes in unfamiliar places. Mountain biking in far-away places is one of the best ways to actually experience them. Not as a tourist watching scenery pass by, but as a rider navigating terrain, reading landscapes, and earning the views.
And by traveling so far I learned something even more shocking: discovering new places and trails close to your local is even better!
But here’s the challenge: Even now, with all the apps and blogs and YouTube videos, planning a good mountain bike ride—let alone an entire trip—is still a lot of work (sometimes, too much).
You’re either piecing together information from varied sources and hoping you didn’t miss something critical, or you’re paying someone else big money to make all the decisions for you.
The crux: it’s still not easy to find great info, put together in a way that helps you discover and explore new trails and places by mountain bike.
MTB Diaries exists to fix that gap.
Not by holding your hand—by giving you the tools and knowledge to ride confidently on your own terms. Find the right trails for your skill level and ambition. Get prompts on the logistics that matter. Enjoy a rolling start on everything MTB.
We want to be a resource that can separate a great trip from a frustrating one, or the difference between getting one ride in vs. nothing at all.
When that happens, it’s all worth it. Happy Trails!
